Egypt Unveiled
Egypt Unveiled is a meticulously designed journey through the full sweep of ancient Egypt, from the towering pyramids of Cairo to the storied temples and tombs of Luxor, along the timeless waters of the Nile River, and onward to the colossal monuments of Aswan and Abu Simbel.
What sets this journey apart is access: nearly every major site is experienced after hours, exclusively, when the gates are closed to the public and the ancient world belongs entirely to you. The Great Pyramids and the Great Sphinx at sunset, the Grand Egyptian Museum by night, and the Valley of the Kings and Temple of Hatshepsut in the hush of evening. Guided throughout by expert Egyptologists, and designed to balance awe-inspiring discovery with genuine luxury and ease, this is Egypt as very few travelers have ever experienced it and as it was always meant to be seen.
Detailed pricing, inclusions, and terms are set forth at the end of this itinerary. For additional information, please contact Tessa Yutadco at tessa@mtyluxurytravel.com or (858) 504-9539.

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 1
LUXOR - EAST BANK AND VALLEY OF THE KINGS
The day begins at dawn, with an early-morning arrival at Karnak Temple, a vast and staggering religious complex that served as the spiritual heart of ancient Thebes for more than two thousand years. Walking its hypostyle hall of 134 towering columns is an experience that simply cannot be replicated.
From the Karnak Temple, continue to the nearby Luxor Temple, a monument of rare intimacy dedicated not to a god but to the very concept of kingship. Its proportions are magnificent and its atmosphere is deeply contemplative.
After returning to the Al Moudira, enjoy lunch at the Farm Kitchen. Then, the afternoon is reserved for leisure. Settle in and allow the morning's extraordinary encounters to sink in at their own pace. A drink by the pool or perhaps a restorative treatment at the spa. This is time well spent.
As evening falls, prepare for the journey's most unforgettable night with an early dinner presented in the Villas. Then proceed to the Temple of Hatshepsut, a breathtaking terraced monument rising dramatically from the sheer cliffs of Deir el-Bahari in honor of Egypt's first great female pharaoh. In the soft light of sunset, with the limestone escarpment glowing above, Hatshepsut's temple is as close to transcendent as architecture can be.
Next, is a short drive to the Valley of the Kings, the final resting place of Egypt's most powerful pharaohs, including Tutankhamun, Ramesses II, and Seti I, opened exclusively for our group after the last visitor has departed. With no one else present, torches casting long shadows across painted walls that have endured for three millennia, the Valley reveals itself in a way that daylight and crowds never allow.
Included Meals: Breakfast , Lunch and Dinner
Accommodations: Hotel Al Moudira
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 2
LUXOR - WEST BANK
The day begins with the imposing Temple of Medinet Habu, among the best-preserved temples on the West Bank of Luxor. Then proceed to the Colossi of Memnon, the two immense seated figures of Amenhotep III, and on to the Howard Carter House, the modest hillside dwelling where the British archaeologist lived during his excavation in the Valley of the Kings when he discovered King Tutankhamun's tomb in November 1922. Today also offers a chance to shop for alabaster pieces handcrafted by Luxor's local artisans
That evening, gather for a private dinner in the Al Moudira's Winter Garden, with live, local entertainment.
Included Meals: Breakfast and Dinner
Accommodations: Hotel Al Moudira
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 3 - SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 7
LUXOR - ASWAN ON THE NILE CANOPUS
After a leisurely morning at the Hotel Al Moudira, transfer to Relais & Chateaux Nile Canopus for a four-night cruise down the Nile River. A 55-meter dahabeya (a traditional, double-masted Nile sailing vessel), the Nile Canopus brings to life the elegance of Egypt’s Golden Age of travel, when explorers drifted quietly along the river in search of meaning, beauty, and discovery. Thoughtfully re-imagined for the modern traveler, this intimate 10-cabin vessel offers an atmosphere of warmth, calm, and refined comfort as you sail the storied waters between Luxor and Aswan.
On board, the six cabins and four suites (suites with balcony) are infused with a sense of place. Bespoke teak and rattan furnishings, brass beds draped in hand-stitched vintage Suzani textiles from Istanbul, and soft Egyptian cotton linens by Malaika Cairo create a restful sanctuary—made even more special when the golden morning light gently filters through the cabin windows. Nearly everything on The Nile Canopus has been lovingly crafted in Egypt, from the handmade tiles to the custom tableware, honoring the artistry and heritage of local craftsmen.
While sailing aboard the Nile Canopus, you will enjoy privately-guided, enriching visits to some of Upper Egypt’s most remarkable sites:
Temple of Khnum, Esna – A beautifully preserved temple from the Ptolemaic era, its vibrant colors reveal a story that has endured for thousands of years.
Bassaw Island – A warm Nubian village where you can stroll through the community.
Edfu Temple – One of Egypt’s best-kept temples, dedicated to the falcon-god Horus. Hidden under layers of sand and settlement for centuries, it stands today as a striking testament to devotion and resilience.
Kom Ombo Temple (by night) – Uniquely designed as a double temple honoring both Sobek and Horus, its glowing nighttime illumination offers a serene and memorable visit.
Herdiab Island – A tranquil haven with soft sandy beaches where you’ll enjoy a relaxed lunch in nature, surrounded by river breezes and silence.
Philae Temple – A jewel of the Nile dedicated to Isis, goddess of healing and protection. Gracefully relocated to Agilkia Island, it is one of the most spiritually moving sites in Egypt.

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 8
ASWAN - ABU SIMBEL - CAIRO
Board an early-morning, 40-minute flight to Abu Simbel. Few sites in the ancient world command the senses quite like Abu Simbel. Carved directly into a sandstone cliff by Ramesses II in the 13th century BC, the four colossal seated figures of the Great Temple (each rising 20 meters from the rock face) greet the rising sun with an authority that has not diminished in more than 3,000 years. Inside, walls alive with vivid reliefs plunge deep into the cliff, while the smaller temple nearby honors Ramesses' beloved queen Nefertari, one of only two temples in Egyptian history dedicated by a pharaoh to his wife. What makes Abu Simbel all the more remarkable is its modern story: in the 1960s, the entire complex was meticulously dismantled block by block and relocated to save it from the rising waters of Lake Nasser — one of the greatest feats of archaeological preservation ever undertaken.
From Abu Simbel, you will fly back to Aswan and then to Cairo.
Depending on flight schedules, you can take a departure flight on the evening of February 8 or on February 9.
For those staying until February 9, accommodations will be reserved at the Waldorf Historia Cairo Heliopolis, a short ten-minute drive from the Cairo International Airport.
